North Augusta High School Freshman Academy
Freshman year in high school is a time of excitement and expectation. It is a time when young people discover who they are and more importantly, who they can become. The transition from middle school to high school is a big step in a young person’s life. The incoming freshman at North Augusta High School for the school year 2012-2013 will be entering more than just a new school. This group of freshman will be the first group of students to occupy the North Augusta High School Freshman Academy.
Research indicates that the freshman year is the year students most often fail. The Academy will create a team approach that shapes a common purpose toward developing a sense of community and a strong commitment to student achievement. Our goal is to assist incoming ninth graders in adjusting to high school standards, expectations, and routines.
The Academy is a “school within a school,” not the model of isolation many often assume it will be. Students participate in the high school activities while traveling less on campus, less congested hallways, and having teams of teachers who work together to ensure that student need is met at the highest possible level. Everyone is excited about the upcoming school year and welcoming our incoming freshman. Parents, please encourage your student to study hard, be positive, take advantage of all NAHS has to offer and to strive for excellence in everything they do as excellence is not an act, it is a habit.
